Houston Texas Rhinoplasty
This is a surgical procedure that is carried out on the nose to correct and reconstruct the form by restoring its functions and aesthetically enhancing its appearance. Correction may be done for congenital defects, respiratory impediment or resolving nasal trauma. There are 2 procedures applicable to this kind of surgery:
A small incision is made on the underside of the nose between the nostrils. The tip of the nose is opened which gives the surgeon a good view of what he or she is doing. It also provides clear access to the underlying structures of the lower and middle third of the nose. One of the advantages of this procedure is that incisions heal and leave undetectable scars.
Incisions are confined to the inner parts of the nostrils. This technique is suitable for noses that have easily correctable deformities. The nose has to be of good shape; not over/under projected, not too long/wide and a straight dorsum. There are no visible skin incisions left after surgery.
In most case, the procedure takes 2-4 hours (depending on the complexity) and is an accredited outpatient surgical procedure. The appropriate procedure (open or closed) depends on the each individual patient and is determined upon consultation with the surgeon. It is performed under general anesthesia. Soft material splints inside the nose hold the newly repositioned tissue in place which is removed the following day and replaced with external dressings. After a couple of days, a small strip of tape replaces the external dressings. Swelling may be present after surgery but it normally subsides after a couple of weeks.
Costs for primary rhinoplasty are $5000 – 9500
